Barcelona Day 1

Hey everyone! So we caught our train this morning to Barcelona at 9am. The train was a little over 5 hours (going 150mph) and got to Barcelona around 2:15. We caught the metro (which we are good at using by now) towards the inner city and found our hostel, San Jordi, pretty easily.  We were all checked in by 3:00 and were out the door headed to the beach.  It was another small metro ride away and by 4:30 we were soaking up the rays. I didn´t want my camera to get taken if we swam so I didn´t bring it, but I wish I had.  There was a gorgeous view over looking the sea. Anyway, we stayed there for 2-2.5 hours and just hung out.  I threw the frisbee some on the beach with the guys and hung out.

But we headed back to the hostel to clean up for dinner around 6:30-7pm.  Most people eat dinner here between 9-11pm, so our dinner time is slowly being pushed back with the locals. We ended up eating dinner around 10pm finished around 11:30. Eating is definately slower over here then in the US. I also miss free refills and large food portions. You pay $10-15 dollars and are slightly satisfied.

We also met some people, a girl named Cathy from Melbourne, Austrailia who we had dinner with.  We learned more about Austrailia and she jokingly made fun of the US stereotype (Impatient, rude, snobish). But we ended up going to a shot bar and club tonight, which was totally not my scene. I really didn´t enjoy it and was trying to not be pick pocketed all night, since our hostel guide said it was a frequent occurance.  We got back tonight at 4am and are heading to bed. Looking forward to seeing the sites tomorrow! This city is really beautiful, although I think there might be less tourist attractions then the previous two cities.  Anyway, I´m looking forward to tomorrow.

Jonathan
