Hey everyone! So today we decided to head into the Tuscany countryside and visit San Gimignamo. We had hit most of the big tourist attractions here in Florence and we thought it would be nice to see the rolling hills of Tuscany. Today we hopped onto a train to a small town outside San Gimignamo and then took about a 30 minute bus ride up to the small tourist town. It had some really awesome views and you could see miles and miles of rolling hills and vineyards. We climbed up the tallest tower in the town and got some great pictures of the surrounding area.
We next headed back to the train station to try and make our way to Pisa. This was a little more complicated then we originally thought because certain trains weren't running because it was Saturday. So we ended up taking two different trains back to Florence, then taking a 50 minute train to Pisa and back. The leaning tower was really cool. I didn't know the tilt was so severe. I'm guessing it's probably an 8-10 degree tilt which is pretty incredible. But afterwards, we got back to the hostel and took a good 2.5 hour nap (I split the time between computer and sleep) and then went to get take out dinner down the street. Italian food is really amazing; I wouldn't say it's too much different then Italian back home... but it's really really good.
Tomorrow we head for Rome which I'm pretty excited about. I think we are going to try and catch an A.S. Roma game which should be really cool; provided we can still get tickets. Rome has a lot of sites to see and it should be a fantastic time. As they say, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do." I'll update everyone again tomorrow! Night!
